We Care event celebrates thousands of North Side volunteers

To celebrate and thank the thousands of volunteers who helped out on the North Side after the May 22 tornado, the City of Minneapolis and its many partners are hosting the We Care Celebration and Community Building Event Saturday, Aug. 20. during the re-opening of the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.

Tailgating festivities begin at 1 p.m. on the Metrodome plaza and the We Care event goes from 2 – 5 p.m. inside the Metrodome. There will be a program to honor the courageous volunteers and community members plus live music, appearances by the Minnesota Vikings, Monster Trucks, Rollerblading and much more.

Staff from the City of Minneapolis will also be on hand with information and resources for homeowners and renters still working to recover from the tornado.

This event is a collaborative effort of countless individuals and organizations including the City of Minneapolis, Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, Minneapolis Public Schools, Minnesota Vikings and the Northside Community Response Team.
