Many cats looking for good homes during "Adopt a Shelter Cat Month"
In recognition of Adopt A Shelter Cat Month, Minneapolis Animal Care & Control is taking an extra step to help encourage folks to adopt an adult cat. Through June 30 you can adopt an adult cat at 50 percent off the typical fee of $60
Minneapolis Animal Care & Control adopts hundreds of cats to the public every year. The normal adoption fee for adult cats is $60 but is being reduced to $30 through June 30. Kittens are still available for adoption for $60. The shelter is open from 2 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
Folks who are interested in adopting a cat, or any pet must be at least 18-years-old, and agree to spay or neuter their new pet within 30 days of adoption for adult animals. Because there is an overpopulation of cats in the city, spaying and neutering them is a humane and effective way to help reduce the number of cats who are put down in shelters every year. Only four out of every 10 cats brought into the Minneapolis Animal Care & Control shelter are adopted, and adult cats aren’t adopted as frequently as kittens.
Minneapolis Animal Care and Control encourages everyone thinking about adopting an animal to be a responsible pet owner: before you look for a pet, think about what type of pet will fit your lifestyle. This will ensure a happy home for you and your new companion.
