Ramps to and from I-35W in Minneapolis are closing for construction

The City of Minneapolis is reminding local travelers that the Minnesota Department of Transportation is closing two ramps that connect with Interstate 35W in downtown Minneapolis as Central Corridor light-rail construction crews continue work on the project.

The 4th Street onramp to southbound I-35W just east of the Metrodome is now closed to traffic, and will remain that way until this summer. Drivers in this area of downtown can connect to southbound I-35W by taking 4th Avenue South on the south end of Downtown or Washington Avenue on the east side of Downtown.

Also, the exit ramp from northbound I-35W to eastbound Washington Avenue and the University of Minnesota East Bank campus will close to traffic on April 4 and not reopen until late 2012.  Motorists should follow all posted detours.

For more information see the Central Corridor light-rail project.
