Minneapolis metro area named one of "Best Cities to Relocate to in America"
The Sperling’s BestPlaces.net. In its 2010 list, the site ranked Minneapolis area the eighth best area in the country.
Sperling’s list takes into consideration a number of factors from cost of living to crime rates, the number of colleges and how healthy the population is, as well as access to museums, shows, sporting and other events and stability. Stability of an area is defined by Sperling as modest growth without large spikes in any of the livability factors that could lead to large busts and disruption within a community.
Minneapolis was viewed by BestPlaces.net as a progressive, green city where people are polite and the metro area in general has a low crime rate, has plenty of colleges and arts and cultural institutions which add to the quality of life. Other factors that helped the area gain recognition were lower unemployment rates, a healthy job market and being one of the most literate metropolitan areas in the nation.
Other cities/metro areas joining Minneapolis in the top 10 are Pittsburgh, Pa., Buffalo-Niagara Falls, N.Y., Omaha, Neb./Council Bluffs, Iowa, Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas, Austin-Round Rock, Texas, Des Moines – West Des Moines, Iowa, Madison, Wis., Denver-Auroa, Colo., and Indianapolis-Carmel, Ind.
