Public hearing on Taxicab licensing code amendments set for May 17

The City of Minneapolis Regulatory, Energy and Environment Committee of the City Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, March 17 to consider amending Title 13, Chapter 341 of the Minneapolis Code of Ordinances relating to the Licenses and Business Regulations of Taxicabs. The primary purpose is to improve customer service by removing photo requirements of Minneapolis Taxicab Drivers licenses, which is a duplicative process. Other proposed changes include updating the ordinance to coincide with current flow processes and language correction.

Proposed amendments include changes to 341.390, 341.420, 341.425 and 341.460 relating to taxicab license application; the issuing of a license; and the license being coterminous with their Minnesota driver’s license.
