Downtown Minneapolis named a great place for empty nesters
Forbes.com has ranked Minneapolis as one of the best downtowns in the nation for empty-nesters, thanks to its trendy restaurants, ample entertainment, quick commutes, and reasonably priced downtown living.
For its study, Forbes looked at the country’s 30 largest metropolitan areas and calculated the potential savings one would realize from moving downtown, as opposed to living in the suburbs.
To determine the rankings, Forbes compared property costs, property taxes, the amount of money saved by not commuting, and other factors. Los Angeles topped the Forbes.com list followed by San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Philadelphia and Minneapolis.
The high ranking comes just a few days after another Forbes survey ranked the Minneapolis Saint Paul area as one of the best cities in the nation to live cheaply.
