Minneapolis ranked as the second most fun city in the country
What residents and visitors to the Minneapolis and the metro area have known for years is now national news! In a study of the 50 largest metro areas in the nation, Minneapolis ranked as the second most fun to visit in the country, being barely edged out by Seattle. The Ritz Cracker FUNomenal Places Study looked at resident participation in social activities such as block parties, barbecues, and outdoor activities, access to parks, entertainment venues, dog parks, gyms, movies, theater, and other recreational facilities to rank the top 50 metro areas.
Minneapolis got high marks for its park system and its access to indoor and outdoor recreational activity centers such as tennis courts, ice rinks, baseball fields and golf courses. Among the FUN-damentals, metro residents spent a greater than average amount of their disposable income on sporting events, entertainment, outdoor activities such as camping, and participating in sports.
Seattle squeaked past Minneapolis for the top ranking. San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, D.C., San Jose, Los Angeles, Boston, San Diego and New York followed Minneapolis to round out the top 10 fun cities in the country.
The study was conducted by Bert Sperling of Sperlings Best Places and sponsored by Ritz crackers in conjunction with the brand’s 75th anniversary./p>
