Mayor will deliver 2012 budget address Sept. 12

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak will present his proposal for the City’s 2012 budget to the City Council at noon on Monday, Sept. 12. The mayor will deliver his budget address at the former Minneapolis Grain Exchange trading floor, which is now the site of CoCo Minneapolis, a collaborative working space and incubator for technology-related entrepreneurs and start-ups.

The mayor will detail a City budget that slows the growth of property taxes and holds City spending nearly constant. The City’s budget for the coming year must deal with the impact of years of State aid cuts and address residents’ concerns about the property-tax levy, while delivering City services and protecting the City’s AAA credit rating.

In the coming months, the City Council will deliberate on the budget in preparation for adoption in December.
