Mileage reimbursement rate changed July 1
Effective July 1, 2011, the rate the City uses to reimburse employees for mileage increased.
City employees who submit mileage requests in July or August should take care to apply the correct mileage rate for miles driven before and after June 30. The rate you should use is when the miles were driven, not when you submit your request for reimbursement.
- For work-related miles driven on or before June 30, 2011, the mileage rate is 51 cents per mile.
- For work-related miles driven on or after July 1, 2011, the mileage rate is 55.5 cents per mile.
The change stems from the Internal Revenue Service’s decision to increase rates for business mileage in recognition of recent gasoline price increases.
