Nice Ride bike discounts available through May 31
City employees have until May 31 to take advantage of a Nice Ride membership discount from Human Resources and Nice Ride Minnesota. A membership allows you to check out Nice Ride bikes to run errands, get to meetings or just take an exercise break.
Thanks to the discount, City employees can buy annual memberships in the Nice Ride bike sharing program for $35 — that’s $30 off the full $65 annual membership fee.
New this year, members may use a Nice Ride bike for 60 minutes without charge (the limit used to be 30 minutes). If you keep the bike longer than 60 minutes, a trip fee is charged. To avoid trip fees, check the bike into a bike kiosk in less than an hour.
How to get a discount
Nice Ride discount certificates will be distributed 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Thursday, May 22, in the City Hall Rotunda. To pick up a certificate, you will need your employee ID number.
If you cannot attend either event, request a discount certificate by emailing Jesse.Jones@minneapolismn.gov with your full name, employee ID number and interoffice address.
Once you get your Nice Ride discount certificate, sign up at www.niceridemn.org by entering your name, home address and credit card number. (The credit card is only charged for trip fees if you keep a bike longer than 60 minutes.) At the end of your account setup, you will enter your discount certificate number.
Visit the Nice Ride website, click “renew your subscription” and enter the discount certificate number. You'll keep the same key.
If you have already renewed your subscription, you can still use a certificate to get the discount. In this case, once you receive your discount certificate, call Nice Ride customer service at 1-877-551-6423.
