Order a $25 tree to plant on your Minneapolis property this spring

Starting March 17, the City of Minneapolis will offer more than 1,000 five- to eight-foot trees to Minneapolis property owners for only $25 each.

Trees are available to Minneapolis residents, businesses and nonprofits on a first-come, first-served basis – order early for best selection. Tree ordering begins at 8 a.m. March 17 at www.treetrust.org. Pick up your tree May 15, 17, 18 or 19 at the Minneapolis Impound Lot, 51 Colfax Ave. N. Visit the Tree Trust website for pickup times.

There is a limit of one tree per property, up to a maximum of five properties.

Healthy trees:

·         Look beautiful in your neighborhood

·         Increase property values

·         Help clean the air you breathe

·         Absorb carbon dioxide

·         Save on your energy bills with strategic planting

·         Keep the city cooler in the summer

·         Provide homes for wildlife

·         Help manage stormwater

If you are planning on purchasing a tree, call Gopher State One Call (651-454-0002) at least three days before digging to plant your tree on your property. It’s the law. Gopher State One Call will mark buried utility lines for your safety. Also, plant large shade trees at least 20 feet away from nearby power lines, buildings or driveways to reduce future problems.
