Finance Department receives 44th consecutive award for financial reporting

For the 44th year in a row, the Finance Department has earned a national award for excellence in its financial reporting.

The Government Finance Officers Association awards the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to state and local governments that go beyond the minimum requirements in annual financial reports and demonstrate the spirit of openness, transparency and full disclosure.

City Controller Connie Griffith said earning the award 44 years in a row was a notable accomplishment considering the significant changes in accounting, reporting and auditing standards that have occurred over that time period.

“Much appreciation to all who were involved and contributed to our success,” she said.
