Look for your new Medica card next week
Due to a data transmission error between the City and Medica, multiple medical ID cards were generated. This error has been fixed and correct ID cards will be arriving the week of Jan. 13. Please note that 2014 elections are correct in the HRIS system and employee premiums deducted from your paycheck on January 24, 2014 will be correct.
If you need to go to the doctor
If you or your dependents need to see a doctor prior to receiving your correct card, here is what you will need to do:
- If you did not make any changes to your coverage, you can use your card from 2013
- If the only change you made was to add or remove dependents, you can use your 2013 card for you and your covered dependents.
- If you changed your network or changed from the standard premium to the wellness premium or vice versa, you will have a new group number but your ID number remains the same. You can give your new group number and your ID number on your 2013 card to your clinic at the time of service. Inform your clinic you are waiting on your new card. For your new group number, contact Benefits.
- If you are newly enrolled in the City’s plan for 2014 let your clinic know you are waiting for your ID card. You can use your social security number and your group number to verify coverage. For your group number, contact Benefits.
If you need to pick up medication
If you need to pick up medication before you receive your new cards, please follow the instructions above. To verify coverage, you should call the pharmacy in advance and provide your new information. If there is a problem, please call Benefits for assistance.
