Youth cabinet will work to incorporate the needs of children into the work of City departments

At its Oct. 4 meeting, the City Council approved a resolution establishing a new youth cabinet that will help identify and incorporate the needs of youth and families into the work of all City departments. It will also work to foster opportunities for engaging neighborhood and community partners in supporting youths and families.

Cabinet membership will include at least one representative from the Health, Police, Civil Rights, Public Works, Neighborhood and Community Relations, and Community Planning and Economic Development departments as well as the City Coordinator’s Office. Membership will also include one City Council member appointed by the Council President, one representative from the Mayor’s office appointed by the Mayor, and a staff person from the Youth Coordinating Board.
