Nominations open for Environmental Initiative Awards

Each year, the Environmental Initiative recognizes partnerships that result in sustainable business practices, reductions in energy consumption, preservation of natural resources or more sustainable communities.

This nonprofit organization, which works to build partnerships that address complex environmental problems, is accepting nominations through March 1 of collaborative environmental projects in five categories:

Recent Minneapolis-based finalists include the City of Minneapolis (for solar, the organics recycling pilot and commercial composting), East Calhoun Waste Watchers, Go Blue! Diamond Lake Community Makeover, Powderhorn Lake Neighborhood of Raingardens and Target Field.
