Firefighters and Public Works employees to be honored by Fire Department
Eighty people will be honored at the Fire Department’s annual awards ceremony at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 12 at the Fire Museum, 664 22nd Avenue NE. Fire Chief John Fruetel will lead the ceremony and present:
- The Distinguished Service Medal to two firefighters who rescued two victims from a fire at 3317 Bryant Avenue S.
- The Meritorious Service Unit Citation Medal to four firefighters for their successful effort to save a man who was threatening to jump from the Groveland Avenue overpass over Interstate 94.
- The Chief’s Award of Merit to three Public Works employees for alerting the occupants of 2218 10th Avenue S about a fire.
Chief Fruetel will also present attendance awards, an educational achievement award and a letter of commendation as well as recognize recent promotions.
