Registration open for six-week public speaking course

The Russell Conwell Toastmasters club will be offering the Toastmasters Speechcraft course beginning Wednesday, Oct. 10. The six-week Speechcraft program is designed for beginners in public speaking and covers presentation skills, impromptu speaking, listening skills, use of visuals, evaluation skills, gestures, voice control, word use and controlling nervousness.

Participants will receive “how-to” pointers and gain practical experience in public speaking and leadership to help them:

·         Learn to speak without fear in front of small and large groups.

·         Prepare effective speeches in a limited time frame.

·         Lead effective meetings.

The Speechcraft course is being offered by the Russell H. Conwell Toastmasters club and is open to both members and nonmembers of Toastmasters. The cost of the program is $25, which includes all materials. If Speechcraft participants subsequently join the Toastmasters club, the Speechcraft course fee will be applied to Toastmasters membership fee.

The Russell H. Conwell Toastmasters group meets on Wednesdays from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. in Room 319 of Minneapolis City Hall, 350 S. 5th St. For more information or to enroll, contact Jim Schneider at jwschneider9624@comcast.net or 952-835-3928.
