Minneapolis 911 operator will be honored at national conference
On Aug. 20, Minneapolis 911 Operator Lori Patrick and 9-year-old Rodrigo Sosa will be honored at the 78th annual conference of the International Association of Public Safety Communications Officers.
Patrick and Sosa will receive a “911 Hero” award from 911 For Kids. Patrick is a 17-year veteran of Minneapolis 911. Sosa called 911 on May 5 to request an ambulance for his baby sister who was unconscious from a prolonged seizure. Sosa was very composed during the call and together he, Patrick and the emergency medical service team were able to quickly assess the situation and send the ambulance.
The conference, which is being held at the Minneapolis Convention Center, is the public safety communication industry’s largest event of the year. This year’s conference is being hosted by Minneapolis 911 along with the Minnesota Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officers (APCO).
