Today’s tip: Offer healthy food choices at your next meeting or event
If you’re planning a City-sponsored meeting or event where you plan to serve food, be sure to offer some healthy foods for attendees to choose from. Here are some suggestions:
Beverage options
- Water
- 100 percent fruit juice
- Vegetable juice
Snacks and light meal options
- Fresh fruit, whole or cut up
- Bagels cut in halves or quarters with low fat cream cheese or jam
- Whole grain muffins, mini or cut in halves or quarters
- Whole wheat crackers with cheese
- Low fat baked tortilla chips with salsa
- Whole wheat pita bread with hummus
- Pretzels
- Lightly seasoned popcorn
- Graham crackers
- Fig Newtons
- Dried fruit or trail mix
- Raw vegetables with low fat dip or hummus
- Half-sized sandwiches made with whole grain breads
- Thin crust, vegetarian pizza
