City-County Chorus seeks members for its 38th season

If you enjoy singing, you’re invited to join the City County Chorus. Rehearsals resume Monday, Sept. 10 in preparation for a series of December holiday concerts.

The chorus rehearses in the Hennepin County Government Center A-level auditorium every Monday for about one hour between noon and 1 p.m. There may also be a few sectional or special rehearsals in November; these are typically held on Fridays over the noon hour.

Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome to join the chorus. There are no try-outs and the ability to read music is not required; the only requirement is an interest in singing. Typically, the chorus practices about 17 songs including traditional carols, popular holiday songs, patriotic pieces and a sprinkle of show tunes.

This will be the 38th year that City, County and State court employees have come together to sing for the holiday season. The City County Chorus first sang during the 1975 holiday season and a few of the original members still sing with the group.

Performances are held in December in various downtown locations, such as  Hennepin County Government Center, Minneapolis City Hall, Hennepin County Medical Center and the US Bank Building. The group performs on other occasions during the year to meet special requests.

Dues are $10 per year and are used to buy music, office supplies and incidentals.
