Work is under way to prepare City Hall for greater wireless access
Cabling work is under way in City Hall to bring wireless Internet access to the building. The project, which received City Council approval May 11, involves adding wireless infrastructure to offices and conference rooms in City Hall as well as the fourth floor of the Flour Exchange building, where the City’s Information Technology staff are officed.
The entire wireless access project is expected to be completed in late July.
When completed, wireless access in City Hall and nearby rented office space will mean that employees going to meetings or visiting another office within the building can access the City network (department drives) and the internet on their laptops or other mobile devices.
Improved wireless access will also help contractors, vendors and other guests access their data, documents and work systems when visiting City Hall.
Status updates about this project and future wireless access in other City buildings will be posted on CityTalk and included in future issues of this newsletter.
