Minneapolis Fire Department wins food drive competition
The Minneapolis Fire Department edged out the Saint Paul Fire Department during the recent food drive competition between the two cities. Minneapolis Fire — thanks to some extra help from the Human Resources department — collected a total of 1,094 pounds of food, just edging out Saint Paul Fire, which collected 1,032 pounds of food.
The competition was part of a Minnesota FoodShare month food drive which ran from March 1 to 31. Firefighters send out a special thank you to the Dan Villarreal who organized a food collection effort in the Human Resources department to help push the Minneapolis Fire Department into the lead.
The real winners, of course, are area food shelves, which now have another ton of food available to combat hunger.
