Minneapolis Police Band performance is March 15

The Minneapolis Police Band will be performing at Augustana Apartments Thursday, March 15 at 7:15 p.m. Augustana is located at 1510 11th Ave. S, Minneapolis.

The Police Band was formed in 1917 and was initially composed of police officers only. In 1919, civilian members were allowed to join the ranks, and in 1969 the first women were admitted. The band's first parade was in the Armistice Day Parade November, 1918.  The marching band has been the official escort band for the Minneapolis Aquatennial Parade since the parade began in 1940. In 2007, the Minneapolis Police Band was inducted into the Minnesota State Music Hall of Fame.

The Police Band, which consists of a concert band, marching band and swing band, rehearses most Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the 5th Precinct, 3101 Nicollet Ave. S.
