Teams can earn points for healthy behaviors in 12-week challenge

The Alliance for a Healthier Minnesota is sponsoring a health challenge aimed at encouraging teams of coworkers, friends and family to earn points for healthy behaviors such as dropping extra pounds, increasing physical activity and making healthy eating choices.

Now’s the time to register for the 12-week BizicallyFIT Health Challenge, which runs from Feb. 13 to May 4. The health challenge recruits teams from all over Minnesota to compete for real-time rankings and virtual trophies.

How the challenge works:

  1. Individuals sign up and then create or join a team.
  2. Team members individually track their exercise minutes, pedometer steps, and/or weight loss at the health challenge website.
  3. Competitors follow the online leaderboard for rankings and bragging rights.
  4. Virtual trophies are awarded to top scoring teams.

Members of the sponsoring organization — the Alliance for a Healthier Minnesota — are Medica, Minnesota Department of Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, Cargill, Target and the Midwest Dairy Council.
