Get the facts on the City budget
With the Legislature in session, you and other City employees may be asked about the City’s spending, the impact of State cuts to Minneapolis or why property taxes have risen.

This list sheds light on some interesting facts that you may not know about the City’s budget process. For instance:
- Since 2001, the State’s budget has increased at a much greater rate than the City’s budget.
- Between 2003 and 2009, the City spent more than $1 billion on police, fire and other public safety services.
- The City has received high marks for its financial management and performance measurement.
