Celebrate great food during National Farmers Market Week Aug. 5-11

Enjoy nearly 30 markets in Minneapolis

The City of Minneapolis passed a resolution recognizing Aug. 5-11 as Farmers Market Week in Minneapolis. August is a time of abundant local produce at the markets, and many markets are hosting fun family activities. Farmers Market Week is celebrated nationally at markets around the country.

Farmers markets serve as important sources of healthy food for residents, economic engines for local farmers and food producers, and vital community gathering spaces in Minneapolis. Nearly 30 farmers markets and mini markets operate throughout the city. In 2016, farmers markets in Minneapolis represented more than $12 million in vendor sales. In 2017, market vendors supported approximately 5,000 employees and welcomed an estimated 1.2 million annual visitors to the markets in Minneapolis. Customers at Minneapolis farmers markets redeemed more than $150,000 in Market Bucks and federal food assistance in 2017, expanding access to fresh, healthy food for Minneapolis residents experiencing food insecurity.

Find a farmers market

The City has an online interactive map that makes it easy to find farmers markets all over the city. Clicking on the map pins will show the address, season dates and opening times for each market. More than two dozen farmers markets and mini markets with more than 800 total vendors are operating in Minneapolis.

Most of the markets accept “electronic benefits transfer” cards as payment to give residents who receive federal food assistance easier access to fresh, healthy food and participate in the Market Bucks program, which provides an additional $10 for customers using the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
