Small businesses: The City of Minneapolis can help pay for new refrigeration equipment
Inefficient refrigeration can waste energy and money for restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores and liquor stores. The City of Minneapolis has partnered with Xcel Energy on a new Green Business Refrigeration program to help small businesses with the cost of their refrigeration projects. The City funds 20 percent of the total cost for small business owners who implement refrigeration tuneups and efficiency upgrades after having free onsite assessments. For businesses in Minneapolis Green Zones, the City funds 30 percent of the total cost.
A simple one-stop process through the Center for Energy and Environment can combine this program with utility rebates to save businesses up to 50 percent of the overall costs of their refrigeration projects.
Businesses can finance the remaining amount through the low-interest Health and Safety Improvement Loan Program.
