New dashboards display the demographics of the City’s workforce
The Minneapolis Human Resources Department has released two public-facing dashboards that display the demographic makeup of the City’s workforce and progress toward workforce diversity goals. You can find the dashboards at minneapolismn.gov/jobs/jobsEEO. The dashboards were built to support the City’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
The workforce demographics overview dashboard displays the total number of City employees as well as the percentage of women and minorities in the workforce for each year 2009-2017. You can filter by year using the drop-down menu at the top of the dashboard. Underneath the annual overview is a graph that shows workforce trends over the past nine years. More robust data is expected to be added to the workforce demographics overview dashboard in 2018, including demographics and goals for each of the 22 City departments.
The other tool is a workforce goals dashboard that tracks and monitors the City's progress in meeting workforce diversity goals. The goals are based on the number of available workers in the City’s labor market as determined by the American Community Survey. You can select any year between 2009 and 2017 to see if the City met or didn’t meet the goals that year for gender and racial diversity in different job types.
The dashboard reports are one more way the City holds itself accountable as an equal opportunity employer. Since 1983, the City has developed an equal opportunity report that tells the story of the composition of the City's workforce, highlights successful programs and initiatives that are diversifying the City's workforce, and addresses challenges through goal setting and action-oriented plans for each City department.
