Change your clocks, change your smoke alarm batteries this weekend

Daylight saving time ends 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 6. When you set your clocks back one hour, it’s a good time to put fresh batteries in your home smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, more than half of all home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.

Simple home fire safety tips:

Carbon monoxide detectors are not substitutes for smoke alarms and should be placed within 10 feet of every bedroom.
