Creative City Challenge Play Day invites all ages to play on the plaza July 19

Play Day, the first of three Creative City Challenge events at the Minneapolis Convention Center Plaza’s Balancing Ground public art space, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 19. An official event of the Minneapolis Aquatennial, Play Day offers free activities for all ages and musical performances all day on the Balancing Ground stage.

Schedule of events:

10 a.m. - noon - Social Jam Session with Ross Hackenmiller
This collaborative music-making event encourages attendees to pick up drums or noise makers and make some joyful noise regardless of talent.

Noon - 2 p.m. - Amanda Lovelee and Ann Carter: Call and Answer
This activity focuses on balance and involves square dancing, hand holding and connecting. View a video of a past Call and Answer

2 - 4 p.m. - Music of the Sun
MOTS is a mobile, solar- and bicycle-powered outdoor music program celebrating the connections between summertime Minneapolis and the communities that love it.

Art projects and activities:

This event features many fun activities for all ages, including arcade games, massages, table tennis and DIY projects and games. Artists/projects include: Leonardo’s Basement, Temporary Table Tennis Trailer, Dosha Kitchen, Play From Scratch, Daytime Post, Arcade Backpack, Function Massage and Acupuncture, and Electric Hopscotch.
