Metro Transit hosting Midtown streetcar open houses

Metro Transit will host two open houses next week to take input on a Minneapolis streetcar study.

Wednesday, Nov. 20
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Intermedia Arts
2822 Lyndale Ave S.

Thursday, Nov. 21
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Colin Powell Center
2924 4th Ave S.

Metro Transit is looking at options of creating a streetcar line on either the Midtown Greenway or Lake Street that would connect the Lake Street/Midtown station on the Blue Line Light Rail Transit project to a planned West Lake Street Station on the proposed Southwest Light Rail Transit line.

At both open houses, project staff will present results of the Midtown Corridor Alternatives Analysis, including cost, projected ridership, travel time changes, proposed stations and service plans. The public can provide input on three alternatives that could move forward for more detailed design, engineering and construction.

If you can’t attend, meeting materials will be available at www.midtowntransitway.org.
