Park and Portland Avenue bridges closing for reconstruction, learn more at open house
This spring, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will be reconstructing the Park Avenue and Portland Avenue bridges over Interstate 94 just south of downtown Minneapolis. This project will require both bridges to be closed from May until early August.
MnDOT, Hennepin County and the City of Minneapolis are hosting an informal open house to update the public on this work.
Wednesday, April 17
4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church
1901 Portland Avenue South
The $5 million project requires simultaneously closing the bridges and adjacent walkways. Traffic, pedestrians and bicyclists will be detoured to alternate routes during construction. Partial and full closures of I-94 and I-35W are scheduled for early May as crews prepare the bridges for reconstruction.
At the open house, attendees may review the project schedule and layout, detour routes and talk with representatives from MnDOT, the City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County.
