Minneapolis Fire Department hosting fire station open houses Oct. 20

As part of National Fire Prevention Month, the Minneapolis Fire Department is hosting fire station open house events Saturday, Oct. 20 from 1 – 4 p.m. The events are happening at the following fire stations:

Fire Station 5 – 2700 Bloomington Ave S
Fire Station 6 – 121 E 15th Street
Fire Station 20 – 4646 Humboldt Ave N
Fire Station 22 – 3025 Market Plaza
During the open houses, firefighters will give visitors a tour of the fire stations, talk about fire safety and prevention, and give an up-close and personal look at the fire trucks.
Fire prevention is extremely important. It is important to have a home fire escape plan that prepares your family to think fast and get out quickly when the smoke alarm sounds. What if your first escape route is blocked by smoke or flames? This year’s Fire Prevention Month theme, “Have Two Ways Out” focuses on the importance of fire escape planning and practice.
