PrepareFair features emergency response equipment and demonstrations
The 2012 Minneapolis Emergency PrepareFair will be held on Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Minneapolis.
This PrepareFair is the 3rd annual event brought to you by the Downtown Emergency Advisory Committee (DEAC) of the Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District (DID). The purpose of PrepareFair is to highlight the Community’s effort towards emergency preparedness, and also aligning efforts with the National Preparedness Month in September. The PrepareFair connects residents, businesses and employees to resources to enable them to be prepared in case of an emergency.
The 2012 PrepareFair will feature emergency preparedness exhibitors inside the IDS Crystal Court; emergency response vehicles, boats and equipment of all kinds on Nicollet Mall. New this year are live demonstrations from special teams such as the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) Bomb Squad, SWAT and K9 units, Krav Maga as well as the volunteers from the Bloomington CERT program. Twenty-nine exhibitors will be inside the Crystal Court and there will be four blocks of response vehicles from the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD), Minneapolis Fire Department (MFD) and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) among others.
DEAC and Minneapolis DID invite all residents of Minneapolis and Hennepin County to participate in and learn from the various exhibitors and experts, who will be on hand to discuss personal and business preparedness.
The PrepareFair has been scheduled to coincide with the International Downtown Association (IDA) annual convention, taking place in Minneapolis. The PrepareFair will be promoted during the conference and is open to all attendees. IDA attendees are representatives from cities across North America, and their involvement will highlight the excellent work the Minneapolis community is doing to ensure emergency preparedness.
