For the second year in a row, the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area is the fittest metro area in the country, according to a ranking from the American College of Sports Medicine.
The rankings looked at the health and fitness levels of the 50 most populous metro areas in the country. The American College of Sports Medicine evaluated cities on a number of factors including preventive health behaviors, levels of chronic disease conditions, health care access and community resources and policies that support physical activity. The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area ranked first because of its low levels of chronic disease and an excellent bike and pedestrian infrastructure.
The other top five cities were Washington, D.C.; Boston, San Francisco, and Hartford, Conn.
