Getting a cab in downtown Minneapolis gets easier on weekend nights
Nine new taxi stands are up and running in the Warehouse District in downtown Minneapolis, making it easier to catch a cab on busy weekend nights, as thousands of people head home from bars, restaurants, and entertainment. The new taxi stands give cabs a place to line up along the curb, which makes catching a cab safer and easier, while reducing vehicle congestion caused in part by circulating taxis. The new taxi stands will be in effect each Thursday through Sunday, from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m., and they are clearly marked with new signage.
The new taxi stands are all within a block of 1st Avenue, along the cross streets at 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th streets. The City will continue to work with businesses and the taxi industry to identify other potential taxi stand locations in the area.
