Minneapolis fire stations accepting donations for food shelves throughout March
Twin Cities firefighters are dousing hunger by collecting food for Salvation Army food shelves during Minnesota FoodShare Month. Their effort is vital: an extra 52,000 people have been using local Salvation Army food shelves since the recession began.
Nonperishable food items can be dropped off at any Minneapolis or Saint Paul fire station March 1–31. Minneapolis’ 19 fire stations will accept food donations 8 a.m.– 9 p.m. Saint Paul’s 16 fire stations will accept donations 10 a.m.– 8 p.m. Those who donate food at any fire station can stay for a free blood-pressure reading.
