City to replay all 2012 budget hearings on Minneapolis 79
To give folks the chance to get a more in-depth picture of how the mayor’s 2012 budget proposal will impact City services, the City will air a Budget Hearings Recap on Minneapolis 79 during the last two weekends of November.
Since September, the City Council’s Ways & Means/Budget Committee has been holding formal budget hearings with every City department as it considers Mayor R.T. Rybak’s 2012 budget proposal. The City will rebroadcast all of the department budget hearings back-to-back on Minneapolis 79 Nov. 19-20 and Nov. 26-27. Two opportunities for public comment
Before the budget’s approval, the City Council will hold two public hearings to give folks a chance to comment on the proposed 2012 budget.

The City Council’s budget mark-up process is scheduled for Dec. 6-7 with final approval of the 2012 budget scheduled for Dec. 14. Folks can learn more about the proposed 2012 budget on the complete proposed 2012 budget.
Budget Hearings Recap schedule
Each department budget hearing will air twice during each weekend. The schedule is as follows:
Saturday
- 7 a.m.: Intergovernmental Relations, Human Resources, Neighborhood & Community Relations, Finance Department and Communications Department
- 9:30 a.m.: City Attorney, Mayor’s Office, City Clerk’s Office and Business Information Services
- Noon: Police Department and Minneapolis Television Network
- 2:30 p.m.: Fire Department and Minneapolis Convention Center
- 5 p.m.: Department of Health and Family Support, Civil Rights Department and Capital Budget
- 7:30 p.m.: Public Works
- 10 p.m.: City Coordinator, 311, 911, Internal Audit and Regulatory Services
