While the first Craftsman Bungalow house was designed and built in 1879, it wasn’t until the turn of the twentieth century that the style became popular for Midwestern homes. Identified by horizontal proportions and wide eaves, the simple designs of the Craftsman Bungalow style appealed to a wide range of incomes. While few Craftsman Bungalow residences are currently landmarks, they do represent a large portion of the Minneapolis housing stock.
