Monday June 19, 2017

Grant Award Presentation and Planting

Please join Minneapolis Health Department staff in planting at the Lead-safe House, 2632 Bloomington Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55407 from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Wells Fargo will be presenting the Minneapolis Health Department with a check for $80,000 for pollinator work in the City of Minneapolis.

Pollinator Patch Planting at 56 Brewing Company 

 

Bring a shovel, grab a NE Nectar, and help support pollinators at 56 Brewing Company. The group will be installing 10 pollinator patches at their brewery, 3055 NE Columbia Avenue Suite 102, Minneapolis, MN 55418, starting at 6:00 p.m. Local honey is a key ingredient in creating a specialty honey beer that 56 Brewing Company will be offering.

SGAD MN: Plant Pollinators 

Support the bees by planting trees at Surly Brewing Company. With honeybee hives present on its roof, this group will be hosting a volunteer planting at their location,520 Malcolm Avenue SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414, from 6:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. to help provide more forage for our dwindling bee populations. Come grab a beer and help the bees.

Evenings @ The Bakken Presents: The Power of the Plants

Check out The Bakken Museum’s bee hives, pollinator patches, and flora. At this event, located at 3537 Zenith Avenue South Minneapolis, MN 55416, the museum will be focusing on the relationship between the diverse world of flora and healthcare called Deep Roots: Plants as Medicine. The event is from 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and is free for member and $12 for general admission. Create Catering will also be serving two signature cocktails - the Honey Julep and a Summer Shandy - both infused with The Bakken Museum's own Zip-Sourced Honey from The Beez Kneez.

Tour of the Honey House

Come learn more about business that came up with idea of pollinator patches. The Beez Kneez, 2204 Minnehaha Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55404, has helped establish and maintain hives in the City of Minneapolis. Not only do they deliver honey by bicycle and teach about sustainable beekeeping but they also extract honey from honeycomb via pedal power. It is truly a sight to see. This event is free and is from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

   Bachman’s Hosts: Twin Cities Rose Club British Style Rose Show

Takes some time to stop and smell the roses at the rose show. Submit an entry or come visit this British Style Rose show. Entries are being accepted from 7:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. The event itself, Bachman's, 6010 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis MN 55419, will be open the public from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. This event is free.  Prospect Park Garden Walk and Plant Sale

Join the Prospect Park Garden Club in this free event that will be exploring the most interesting and exceptional gardens in the neighborhood from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. See where the pollinators come to play, take a self-guided walk focused on East River Parkway and East River Terrace.  After appreciating the scenery add plants to your own garden by visiting the plant sale in the Saint Frances Cabrini Church, parking lot. Beez Kneez Bike Ride and Picnic

The Beez Kneez in partnership with the City of Minneapolis Health Department C.O.M.B. project and collaboration with artist Anna Metcalfe, is excited to host a bike ride for bees! Tour newly installed patches of pollinator friendly plants around the city, with stops for snacks, plantings, and art. Lunch will be catered by Appetite for Change. Space is limited, register by Friday, June 23, 2017, cost for this event is $20. The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. beginning and ending at the Beez Kneez Honey House 2204 Minnehaha Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55404.

Bachman’s Hosts: Twin Cities Rose Club British Style Rose Show

This British Style rose show continues. This event is free and open to the public from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Bachman's on 6010 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis MN 55419.
