"Because Place Matters" video showcases Corridor Housing Initiative

Minneapolis Corridor Housing Initiative (CHI), is showcased in a new 11-minute video, "The Corridor Housing Initiative: Because Place Matters," which can be viewed on the Web at: http://www.housinginitiative.org/video.html.

The 11-minute video, produced and directed by Tom DeBiaso, introduces the CHI: what it is, why it is important, what makes it special, and what it achieves. Filmed from the perspective of community members, city staff, elected officials, and the initiative's technical team, the video provides a general overview of this award-winning program.

CHI is part of theCity of Minneapolis Corridor Housing Strategy, which aims to increase affordable housing along transit corridors—Minneapolis’ "Main Streets"—by acquiring critical sites, awarding priority funding to development tied to jobs and transit, and giving neighborhood organizations an early and comprehensive role in planning.

In collaboration with the City of Minneapolis, the Center for Neighborhoods coordinates the Corridor Housing Initiative with support from the Metropolitan Design Center, the Fannie Mae Foundation, the Family Housing Fund of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, and the Twin Cities Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC).
