Minneapolis Advisory Committee on People with Disabilities Vacancies
The Minneapolis Advisory Committee on People with Disabilities was created by resolution 76R-009 on 1/19/1976 to expand opportunities for all children and adults with disabilities throughout Minneapolis, without regard to disability or other protected class status, work to improve life’s opportunities by resolving conflicts involving persons with disabilities and protect their right to fully participate in society.
Applicants must be knowledgeable or have expertise in one of the following area: accessible housing, transportation, employment, or program and architectural accessibility. Members should recognize that people with disabilities have unique concerns regarding their daily activities.
Meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., in Room 132 City Hall. There is no compensation for attending meetings. The committee meeting locations are accessible to persons with disabilities. Four unexcused absences during a calendar year will be cause for dismissal.
Deadline: Application review process will begin on Friday, October 18, 2019.
Vacancies - There are fifteen vacancies for Mayoral appointments with City Council approval.
· Seats 1 - 7: Unexpired terms beginning Jan. 1, 2019 and ending on Dec. 31, 2020
· Seats 8 - 15: Terms beginning Jan. 1, 2020 and ending on Dec. 31, 2021.
Note: Seats may have an incumbent seeking reappointment.

The committee is comprised of 15 members appointed by the Mayor with confirmation by the City Council. Members serve two-year terms which are staggered so that half of the members are appointed every year.
Applications are forwarded from the City Clerk to the Committee, Mayor, and City Council President Staff for their consideration. Applications are reviewed by the Public Health, Environment, Civil Rights, and Engagement Committee for recommendation to the full Council.
