911/Police Department Workgroup Vacancies

The City is forming a 911/MPD workgroup tasked with the purpose of analyzing dispatch call categories to determine whether there are opportunities to expand the City’s ability to respond to those calls beyond the Police Department. The workgroup will also be tasked with providing recommendations to a committee of the City Council on additional issues such as training needs and opportunities, timelines for piloting or prototyping alternative dispatch responses, and financial and personnel costs associated with such recommendations. Community members will work with representatives from 911, the Police Department, the Fire Department, the Health Department (Office of Violence Prevention), and the City Attorney’s Office to complete the work and provide recommendations. The workgroup will meet as a whole on at least a monthly basis during a regularly scheduled, standing meeting or as agreed upon by the members of the workgroup. Meeting times and locations will be determined based on workgroup members’ availability. The workgroup will serve for a limited time, likely to disband summer of 2019.
