Minneapolis Community Environmental Advisory Committee (CEAC) Vacancies

The Minneapolis Community Environmental Advisory Committee (CEAC) was created as the Minneapolis Environmental Commission by City Council Resolution 90R-142, April 13, 1990 and renamed July 7, 1994 to advise on the environmental consequences of City policies, programs and projects with local or global impacts. CEAC works closely with the Minneapolis Sustainability staff.

Selection Process

Applications are forwarded from the City Clerk to the Mayor and City Council for consideration. Applications are forwarded to the chair of the Health, Environment & Community Engagement Committee for recommendation to the full City Council.

Additional Information

Meetings are held six to twelve times per year, usually on a 2nd Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 p.m.in Room 132 of City Hall, 350 S 5th Street . The day and week of the month the meetings are held is subject to change. In addition members are encouraged to participate in various subgroups developed throughout the year focused on specific issues. There is no compensation besides parking or transit fare for attending meetings. The committee meeting locations are accessible to persons with disabilities.

The CEAC has a total of 19 members: 8 members each appointed by the City Council and the Mayor from the following groups: 2 citizen members, 2 representatives from environmental advocacy groups, 2 persons with demonstrated technical environmental expertise and 2 representatives from industries or companies having major impact on the environment. Additionally, there is a representative with expertise in environmental matters from the Minneapolis Public Schools, Minneapolis-Park and Recreation Board, and the Hennepin County Board.
