Minneapolis Telecommunications Network (MTN) Vacancies
The Minneapolis Telecommunications Network (MTN) is designated to operate the public access channels for the City of Minneapolis on Comcast’s and CenturyLink’s cable communications system. MTN shall maintain and operate a fully equipped and staffed public access production studio facility with related office space. MTN shall provide access to the equipment, facilities, and services provided. MTN shall provide training, equipment and channel time to City residents. MTN shall develop policies and procedures for use and operation of the public access equipment, facilities, and channels.

- Seat 1: City Council appointment for a term to begin immediately, and ending on January 15, 2018.
- Seat 2: City Council appointment for a term to begin immediately, and ending on January 15, 2021.
- Seat 8: Mayor appointment for a term to begin immediately, and ending on January 15, 2019.
- Seat 9: City Council appointment for a term to begin immediately, and ending on January 15, 2018.
The MTN is comprised of nine members, plus three ex-officio members. Five appointed by the City Council, three Mayoral appointments, and one joint Council President and Mayor, each serving a four-year term. The articles of incorporation contain a conflict of interest statement which prohibits directors (members) from having a financial interest in any entity engaged in or doing business with cable television in Minnesota. City residency is required.

Applications are forwarded from the City Clerk/Communications Department to Ways & Means committee members, Council President staff and Mayor staff for consideration. Applications are reviewed by the Ways and Means Committee for recommendation to the full Council.
Regular meetings are 3rd Thursday of the month 6:30 p.m. at MTN, 1620 Central Ave NE #175. The meetings are open to the public and public comments are solicited at the beginning of each meeting. There is no compensation. The meeting locations are accessible to persons with disabilities.
