Minneapolis Charter Commission Vacancies

The methods available for amending a home rule city charter are contained in Minnesota Statutes, Section 410.12 et seq. The basic job of the Charter Commission is to gather, receive, review, and/or propose amendments to the Charter, and then to determine if they are appropriate to submit to the voters or to the Council for 13-0 passage.

Deadline: Open until filled. The application review process will begin October 17, 2018. Each vacancy will be posted for 30 days before being reviewed by the Chief Judge. Chief Judge Bernhardson's chambers will notify appointees upon selection.

Vacancies

The following vacancies are coming up for appointment at the listed expiration date. If appointed, the term shall last for four (4) years.

Seat 11: July 1, 2018 - July 1, 2022

The commission is comprised of 15 members appointed by the Chief Judge for the Fourth Judicial District Court State of Minnesota/Hennepin County, The Honorable Ivy Bernhardson.

Selection Process

Applications are forwarded from the City Clerk's Office to the Chief Judge for consideration.

Note:

Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month in Room 317 City Hall at 4:00 p.m. There is no compensation for attending meetings. The commission meeting locations are accessible to persons with physical disabilities. Active membership is expected.
