Family Bicycling Series
The Family Biking series is designed to encourage you to get back out on the streets and trails with your children. Whether or not you biked a lot before becoming a parent or want to teach your kids to bike, you very likely have questions about how to approach each stage of family biking.
These classes and rides are designed to answer any questions you have and encourage you to experience or re-experience the joys of biking.
Kidical Mass
This spring Kidical Mass arrives in Minneapolis! Once a month we will gather to celebrate and create awareness for the growing presence of kids and families on bikes. We will meet at local parks around the city and ride to family friendly destinations.
Rides are typically less than 3 miles at a 5-6 mph pace on quiet residential streets. All events are FREE. We will ride as a group and will travel as fast as our slowest riders. Helmets are required for all riders.
*New Event* Wednesday, August 1 • Lake Hiawatha Neighborhood Festival 5:30pm - Bicycle decorating. 6pm - Ride launches! Meet at the Lake Hiawatha Neighborhood Festival in Lake Hiawatha Park (2701 44th St. E). We will be located near the Family Fitness Challenge.
All following community family rides will take place on Saturdays from 9-11:30am. Rides will leave locations by 9:30am.
April 21 • RiverLake Greenway
Meet in the parking lot at Lyndale Farmstead. We will ride the bicycle boulevard along E 40th St, stopping at three parks along the way.
May 19 • Celebrate Art-a-Whirl
Meet outside the Logan Park rec center to decorate bikes at 9am. We will parade down 13th Ave NE and ride some of the new Northeast bikeways.

June 23 • North Side Connections
Meet in front of the Venture North Bike Walk Center at 1830 Glenwood Ave N. We will ride along Wirth Pkwy, Bassett's Creek Pkwy and visit the Sculpture Garden.
July 21 • Southeast Parks and Gardens
Meet at Bracket Park. We will ride south, stop for a short tour of the Dowling gardens and finish at Minnehaha Park.
August 18 • Mississippi River Ride
Meet at Farview Park. We will ride along Emerson Ave to Webber Pkwy. The ride will end at the North Mississippi River Park playground.
Saturday Safety Series
Riding safely starts with having a bike in good repair. Start the spring wiping down your bike and making sure everything is in working order. This clinic will teach you and your child how to identify possible mechanical problems and make simple repairs.
Once your bike is ready to ride, you’ll give it a go on a handling course or a short ride around the community.
All Saturday Safety Clinics are from 9:30-11:30am. Don’t forget to bring your bikes and helmets!

No registration necessary. Just show up!
Helmets are required for all riders and available on request.
In case of severe weather, rides and clinics will be cancelled. Events will otherwise take place, rain or shine.
