What sort of trips do you take by bicycle?

Most trips - most of my commuting is via bicycle.

How often do you bike?

Every day.

How long have you been riding your bike?

This will be my fourth Minnesota winter on bike – I ride year round.

What keeps you pedaling?

My legs! I enjoy biking – I love that it's easy on the environment, and it’s faster than driving since I travel downtown during rush hour.

What kind of bike do you ride?

Jamis.

Where is your favorite place to ride?

I'm enjoying downtown night rides lately. There are no cars and no people and it’s kind of surreal.

How do you stay safe when you ride?

I use a helmet and head and taillights. And I never assume that drivers see me.

Do you have a shining moment with a motorist, or something you really appreciate from motorists?

I appreciate when motorists pay attention to things other than themselves. Especially in the winter when there are fewer bikers on the road, acknowledgment from drivers is really appreciated.

What are your pet peeves, either from motorists or other cyclists?

In my perfect world bikers would all bike in the right direction, sidewalks would be for pedestrians only, and motorists would be aware of the things going on around them. Until then, wrong-way bikers really irk me lately.

What is the most unusual thing you do on your bike?

I practice my yoga! It's like meditation in movement for me. I focus on my breath and concentrate on moving from my core. It helps me to feel connected to my bike and gives me an opportunity to practice balance and control. It's a great way to stretch my muscles near the end of a ride, and it helps to keep me warm on really cold rides.
