After the Assessors office has received the documentation necessary to process your homestead, a homestead affidavit will be generated and mailed to you. Upon receipt of the affidavit, please verify that the information on the affidavit is correct, and then each owner-occupant must sign it. The signed affidavit must be returned to the City Assessor's Office before December 15th in the year of the homestead request.
Failure to sign and return the affidavit before December 15th will result in the property being classified as non-homestead. The signed affidavit must be returned by U.S. mail or in person to the Assessor’s office. It CAN NOT be returned by fax or email.
