Finding Lost Pets
MACC makes every effort to return lost pets to their owners. All stray animals are checked for pet licenses, identification tags, and microchips. If you are looking for your lost pet, please scroll above and click on Lost Dog, Lost Cat, or Small Animals to see if your lost pet is currently in our shelter. MACC does not take lost reports; owners can, however, bring in a poster to hang on our bulletin board.
To claim your pet, you must provide proof of ownership. Examples include veterinary records, bill of sale, photos of you and your pet together, etc. All unlicensed animals must be licensed and all fees/fines paid before they will be released to their owners.
Last year, just over 4,300 animals were brought to the Animal Shelter. When a pet comes to us wearing a pet license tag, 98 percent of those animals leave the Animal Shelter with their owners. Please help us get your furry friend back home--license your pet today!
Applicable fees include:
- impound fee ($50); waived if licensed
- kennel/care/boarding fees ($20, plus tax, per day)
- license fee ($25+)
- fines (if applicable)
Licensing your pet is the quickest and easiest way to recover your lost pet. When possible, licensed pets are delivered to your home at no cost. If you are not home or home delivery is not an option, owners of licensed pets do not pay the $50 impound fee should your pet be brought to the shelter. However, kennel fees are not excluded.
